Abstract

Burnout, also called Burnout syndrome, is an adaptive disorder that is characterized mainly by the presence of symptoms of emotional exhaustion, feelings and depersonalization behaviors and perceptions of low achievement or personal achievement, this cocktail of symptoms most often affects people who perform constant social interactions or who are subject to chronic work stress (Maslach and Jackson, 1982). The burnout syndrome has been studied in various work environments, among them, people related to the health area, educators, social service, students, etc. In this opportunity, the research proposed focuses on the field of higher education, with the main protagonists being the professionals who teach at universities, where the levels of burnout syndrome are determined from a gender perspective. The present research work has a descriptive, correlational methodological basis, which was carried out with a sample of higher education teachers, with the objective of determining the levels of burnout syndrome accompanied by an analysis from a gender perspective.
