An Examination of the Homicide Phenomenon in the Department of Bolívar During 2025

Abstract

Homicide constitutes one of the main challenges affecting citizen security and social coexistence, generating impacts on social development and territorial stability. In Bolívar, this phenomenon presents differentiated patterns across municipalities and subregions, making its analysis necessary to support decision-making in public security. The objective of this study was to analyze the behavior of homicide during 2025 and its relationship with the guidelines of the Comprehensive Security and Citizen Coexistence Plan (PISCC). The research was conducted under a quantitative and descriptive approach using official information from the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, the National Police, and the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). The findings identified territorial and sociodemographic concentration patterns, as well as differences in the distribution of homicide among municipalities and subregions. It is concluded that homicide remains a significant challenge for citizen security, highlighting the need to strengthen targeting, monitoring, and evaluation processes of institutional strategies aimed at violence prevention.
