Factors that affects the choosing of the nursing profession

Abstract

Introduction: Nurses are professionals who carry out an important role in providing patient care, this requires vocation, discipline, customer service. From this arises the need to know the reasons behind the choice of the profession. Objective: identify the factors that influence in the choosing of the nursing as a profession in the estudents of the corporation university (CURN). Cartagena. 2016 Materials y méthods: the cuantitative study, descriptive, cross-sectional and correlation trasversal y correlational. The sample corresponds to 141 estudients of the nursing program of the CURN, to whom were applied an instrument, that information was analyzed  using statistical techniques. Results: the aspects that stood out inside of the factors that influence in the choosing of the profession were: personal factors “fill my expectations”, in relation to the family factors the “life experiences in the family in relation to situations of helath-sickness” (2,31). Other is the en¿conomic factors  “laboral estability” (2,76), social factors were: “gratificatio for being a  humanitarian professionn” (2,89), “professional recognize” (2,86), “social status to get the títtle” (2,57). Conclusion: the most  relevant factors to the choosing  of the profession  were the social type  (2,73), together with the economic one (2,46). This situation leads to analyze that the nursing profession continue being a carrer  with much vocation, with human sense that project  those who  makes it  as economically estable people with a recognize  in the society.
