The present study examines the municipality of Gramalote residents’ perception about the economic, sociocultural and environmental aspects associated with the potential for tourism development in the region. A Likert-type scaling questionnaire was applied and its validity and reliability were evaluated by an expert judgement and the Cronbach's alpha. Among the most relevant results, it was found that the economic and environmental dimensions were those that obtained the highest levels in the Likert scale. Thus, it can be concluded that, in general terms, the community perceives that tourism will bring opportunities for economic development to the region, emphasizing the principles of preservation of the environment, the rescue of natural resources and socio-cultural protection.
