Analysis of critical factors affecting the competitiveness of ports for navigation in magdalena river

Navigation is a priority because of the importance to the challenges of development and international trade of the country, as a result, river transport cargo along the Magdalena River becomes a strategic support for the competitiveness of the state, due to low costs and logistic infrastructure development.
The aim of this paper is to analyze the factors affecting the competitiveness of ports for navigating the Magdalena River
The research was descriptive and used as sources of secondary data collection were used, because it was based on the document review.
It is concluded that the river has great potential for cargo and if it competitive for national and international trade due to its low cost. However, the state investment for this type of transport has been very low and insufficient.
