Abstract

Both public and private support in the entrepreneurial environment is essential to consolidate entrepreneurial processes as a cornerstone of economic development at regional, national and global levels. The main objective of this article is to compare a public and a private entity that supports entrepreneurship, using a qualitative descriptive case study methodology. Two entrepreneurship support entities were selected in the Municipality of Ocaña, Norte de Santander: Cemprendo and The Chamber of Commerce. Semi-structured interviews were applied, revealingAlthough private efforts are observed, the relevance could be greater on the part of the Ocaña Chamber of Commerce. It is concluded that Cemprendo provides greater support to the creation, strengthening and consolidation of entrepreneurship in Ocaña, Norte de Santander, compared to the Chamber of Commerce.
