Analysis of the organizational culture of the Autonomous University of Colombia, according to the six dimensional model of Geert Hofstede

The main objective of the research is to determine the organizational culture of the Autonomous University of Colombia, a private institution with 49 years of existence in Bogotá, Colombia, based on Hofstede's Six Dimensions Model. From the theoretical study of Hofstede's postulates, on organizational culture, it is established that the university faces basic problems related to authority, individualism, conflicts, aggression and the appreciation of the organization referred to the degree of control. From this descriptive-explanatory and exploratory study, a Likert-type questionnaire was designed. Once the statistics are applied, according to the Six Dimensions Model, the perception of students and teachers of the four faculties and their fourteen undergraduate programs is established, with respect to the orientation established by the author: orientation to the process versus orientation to results, employee (people) orientation versus job orientation, parish orientation versus professional orientation, open system orientation versus closed system orientation, lack of control orientation versus high degree of control orientation. His study at the multinational IBM allowed him to adapt his model to national and corporate cultures and apply it to the reality of the Autonomous University of Colombia, as an Institution of Higher Education. The organizational culture becomes an instrument to influence and facilitate the organizational climate that entails an adaptation and dynamics of the university institution within the framework of the knowledge economy. The research suggests that the organizational culture of the university influences the development of the organization and the academic management that it teaches.
