Abstract

As follow, the results of a research done at University of Envigado are shown, whose main objective was to relate the Business Science School´s students´ literacy levels with their academic performance. This objective changed in the process, because of the high levels of dropping out. Therefore, the investigation team decided including the dropping-out problem among the research purposes and compare them with the students´ written culture problems at starting and during their stay in the university. Also, dropping-out problem and career and university election are revised. Finally, some proposals in order to decrease the dropping-out by means of increasing the literacy levels, due to the fact that their importance in academic and professional life.
