Comprehensive action against antipersonnel mines, as the International Standards (IMAS) affirm, has as a main objective the elimination of risks of explosion of antipersonnel mines (APM), unexploded ordnance (UEO) and improvised explosive devices (IED) of the areas where they have been planted, placed or abandoned.
Humanitarian demining (HD) in Colombia, is a humanitarian assistance provided to communities affected by APM, with the aim of restoring safe lands for their productive use and contributing to the return of displaced families.
This paper aims to analyze the HD as a form of socio-economic reintegration in populations subject to political violence in Colombia. The method that was used in the research was a quantitative, descriptive and as a non-experimental design and as a source of information collection were secondary sources, such as databases, articles, books, theses, among others.
It is concluded that, through HD and land liberation, the concept of security is promoted as well as the trust for the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive socio-economic development projects that impact the improvement of the quality of life of the affected communities.
