Abstract

The science of education, as a scientific practice, was born with the purpose of indicating the tools or ways that allow, with greater ease, teachers to be able to teach or transmit knowledge, for this, it included other disciplines that facilitate this task, such was the case of Sociology and Psychology. However, each pedagogical theory presupposes a vision of the subject: a concept of man that serves as an epistemological substrate on which all his theoretical bases are laid. That is why this research aims to study the history of education in Colombia, in order to describe how various pedagogical currents came into play and how they were configuring some types of concepts about the subject according to their own worldviews. It is important to note that, at different historical moments, pedagogy was the instrument that helped to promote political, religious, scientific ideals of social classes or political/religious elites.
