This article presents a pedagogical proposal whose purpose was to study the influence of playful activities in the development of reflective capacity, when planning and producing an academic essay. The participants are 34 third year students of the Nursing career, in the Psychosocial Nursing III course. The approach adopted is mixed in nature, since it considers the intervention and the response to a questionnaire on perceptions around the topics addressed and the implementation of the pedagogical proposal. The study considers a diagnostic phase, intervention, information gathering and essay writing. The results suggest that the incorporation of recreational activities in the classroom positively influences the reflective capacity of nursing students, both in the planning phase and in the writing of the essay.
