Characterization and socioeconomic classification of the work of rural women in the municipality of Vistahermosa-Meta

Female work in the rural sector is immersed in daily work, paid or not, permeated by cultural patterns that generate unequal relationships with male work. This paper aims to analyze the main reproductive, productive and community activities carried out by rural women, within the framework of the different roles played by men and women in the municipality of Vistahermosa, Meta. The approach is carried out from a quantitative paradigm, descriptive method and, under the guidance of the Participatory Rural Diagnosis tool, a survey was applied to 61 women leaders in the municipality. It is found that women have reproductive work as their main task, in reference to domestic activities and home care. Their productive work focuses on agriculture for self-consumption, the raising of small livestock and the employment of some of them to off-farm activities. The community work is active in community action boards, parents' schools, workshops, and cultural-recreational activities. It is concluded that, although rural women have gained autonomy and decision-making power in the home, there is an unequal division of labor that leads them to have a triple shift and a greater vulnerability to poverty.
