Priority of prevention and promotion of empowerment in operational workers: identification of an industrial safety culture

Identify the culture of workplace safety in its priority dimension of safety and promotion of empowerment in operational workers. Research with a quantitative, descriptive approach. The total sample was made up of 104 operational workers in the extrusion and thermoforming area. The Nordic Occupational Safety and Health Questionnaire (NOSACQ-50) was used; it was evaluated with a Likert-type scale with responses such as strongly disagree, disagree, agree and strongly agree. The results show that thermoforming personnel obtained a score of 2.87, indicating a low-moderate safety culture, while extrusion workers achieved a score of 3.05, placing themselves at a moderate level. Regarding the frequency of responses, the thermoforming area presented greater homogeneity (95%) compared to extrusion (91%). Furthermore, in the analysis by gender, it was observed that both men and women in thermoforming shared similar scores, while in extrusion men showed greater consistency in their responses, with 100% of "agree" responses. In terms of gender, both men and women in thermoforming obtained similar scores, reflecting a low-moderate safety culture. In addition, the extrusion area showed a greater priority and empowerment in safety, which coincides with previous studies. However, factors such as age, seniority and risk level must be considered for a deeper interpretation of the results.
