Knowledge and prevention of infections associated with health care in a hospital from Cartagena.

Background: the knowledge of health personnel about the prevention of infections associated with health care and the practices of hygienic measures and biosafety can be risk factors for the appearance of these infections that are an indicator of the quality of hospital care.Objective.to determine knowledge level and application of preventive measure about infections associated with health care in a hospital from Cartagena Bolívar. Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study in a third level hospital in 2012. A survey was applied in 184 health professionals to evaluate knowledge level and application of preventive measure about infections associated with health. Results:98.9 %of health professional had a good knowledge level. Anybody responded correctly how do they wash their hands. 59.8% always used preventive measure with respect to infections associated with health care. Conclusions: Health professional had good knowledge level, but anybody responded correctly how do they wash their hands.
