Abstract

This research article will analyze and make questions about different representations of gender in the multicultural context of the city of Cartagena. In this, a complex conception of gender identity arises, it explores how social constructions of femininity: a) produce violence of various kinds; b) they are encouraged by institutions (school, religion, family); c) they are linked to other aspects such as race, social class and place of origin. Furthermore, the research refers to a series of speeches (normative, theoretical) and practices to reformulate the above schemes, in order to promote new forms of freedom, tolerance and resistance.
