Introduction: peripheral giant cell granuloma (GPCG) is a relatively frequent exophytic pseudotumoral lesion of the oral cavity representing approximately 0.4 to 1.9 % of the pathology treated in the field of oral surgery, occurs exclusively in the gum or in the edentulous alveolar crest, among its triggers are: tooth extraction, poor restorations with overextended margins, poorly adjusted prostheses, periodontal disease, periodontal surgery, orthodontic appliances, biofilm and calculus. Objective: relationship of the giant cell peripheral granuloma with possible systemic findings, description of its clinical, histological characteristics, diagnosis and treatment. Case presentation: a clinical case report of a 49-year-old female patient with inflammation of the gum and palate following dental treatment is reported, with a histopathological diagnostic impression of a mesenchymal tumor of uncertain biological behavior according to the extra institutional report. It is considered to lead the wide local recession of the lesion, furthermore of mucous flap. Control is suggested in 3 months by nodules with density in right lung frosted glass. Conclusion: giant cell peripheral granuloma is an infrequent lesion of the oral cavity, which is why a careful and early diagnosis of GPCG based on the clinic, radiological findings and histological studies, are what allow to determine a successful and conservative management.
