Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of competitive factors in the city of Cartagena de Indias, Bolivar’s Department, in conjunction with local educational provision. It identifies two perspectives of analysis, the academic offerings of the colleges in the city and the current situation  of  cooperation  and  close  relationship  between  the  productive  sectors  and  the education system and training platform required human capital. Its importance lies in determining the competitive advantages of the city and the consistency that must have higher education programs to train the skills that are required before the impending challenges of modern  commerce,  taking  into  account  the  specificities  of the  city  and  the  region.  The methodology is based on a review of literature, the conceptual foundations of competitiveness, productivity and competitive advantages are also examines secondary sources of standards, issued by governmental policies that support the implementation of a competitive plan for the region. We conducted a pilot test, based on their results, describing the current  situation regarding economic sectors, education sector. 

The results of this analysis are the primary consideration of weaving strategies that run a rapprochement between the real sector and seeking to establish training bases in support of the professional skills around Cartagena competitive factors.
