Therefore, for higher educational institutions, well-defined methods for efficient information management are relevant while maintaining the quality standards demanded by the education market. The objective of the document is to investigate the institutional value presented by the teaching staff of a higher education institution in Barranquilla. The methodology was non-experimental descriptive with a quantitative cut, the sample was made up of 25 university professors, who attended an instrument with 5 questions with Likert-type scale response options. The results show high rates of agreement with indicators such as the benefits and relevance of the use of data extraction techniques, while the versatility element presents a wide spectrum of improvement. It is concluded that information management implies a series of coordinated actions in the institution for proper implementation and use, which facilitates continuous improvement processes based on strategic objectives and achieve excellence in them.
