Analysis of the socioeconomic impact of restaurants in Flanders Tolima, after the Ospina Pérez bridge during the period from july 2021 to december 2021

The objective of this paper was to analyze the socioeconomic impact suffered by restaurants located in Flandes, Tolima, due to the closure of the Ospina Pérez Bridge. The closure of the bridge took place from July 2021 to December 2021, which significantly affected mobility and access to the area near the Magdalena River, specifically to the neighborhood known as La Capilla. In this study, the mixed and descriptive research method was used to meet the proposed objectives. To carry out the analysis, a sampling of 11 restaurants that met two specific requirements was made: to be registered in the Chamber of Commerce and to be located in the area near the Ospina Pérez Bridge. These commercial establishments were selected as a representative sample of the target population. During the study period, relevant data were collected on the economic performance of the restaurants, such as income, expenditures, number of customers, employment and other key indicators. These data were analyzed and compared with periods before and after the bridge closure to identify the effects of the bridge closure on restaurant business activity. The analysis revealed that restaurants in Flandes, Tolima, experienced a significant socioeconomic impact during the period of the Ospina Pérez Bridge closure. The decrease in the flow of customers and the difficulty of access to the area had a negative impact on the income and profitability of the establishments. In addition, a reduction in employment and job stability in the sector was observed. The results of this study provided valuable information on the effects of the closure of the Ospina Pérez Bridge on restaurants in Flandes, Tolima. These findings could be used by local authorities and business owners to make informed decisions and develop mitigation strategies in case of future closures or similar events that may affect economic activity in the area.
